Bethesda, you really disappointed me with this. I -[censored]-32339.phtml] really don't appreciate the way you handled this. Its just like the other countdown websites. Whether you realize it or not, but when you do any sort of countdown site without a specific description people automatically assume that the announcement or whatever will be released right at midnight. But it is now 3am pacific time right now and you have still managed to not post the new site. I am a huge fan of Bethesda. I played way more Morrowind and Oblivion than I should have and always enjoyed the Fallout 1 & 2 games and have really looked forward to this Fallout 3 announcement. You got me excited for it with the countdown, and then you let me down with your epic fail. Seriously, if you are going to do a big hype countdown, then deliver the content. Otherwise just post the announcement when you decide you want to post it. If you want a noon announcement then don't do a countdown unless it counts down to noon on that day specifically. I just though you people would like to know that you failed. Whomever is responsible for marketing or who's ever idea this was should feel really bad about themselves for their epic stupidity.

Well thats just the price you pay for not camping outside their HQ in a tent and a wi-fi connection...

Just saw the teaser on a haxor website, so I won't give you the link even if you pm me, sorry.
Here's my description, so judge for yourselves:

Total time: 40 seconds

- black screen and silence
- "FALLOUT 3" fades in
- "Fallout 3" fades out
- sound of wind
- in-game panoramic view of a desert landscape with 4 tents in the distance. The image is rotating from left to right as the time of day slowly changes from day to night. There is no movement anywhere.
- in-game view of a cityscape, this time the camera slowly descends between some skyscraper ruins. Sorry I can't identify the city, but it is LARGE and looks completely deserted. The graphics are really something and the view distance is great. Doesn't necessarily look like the first 2 Fallouts but it sure as heck gives the impression of post nuclear.
- at around 20 seconds into the teaser we're shown the dark interior of an empty apartment, the camera moves through the rooms, down some stairs and into a basement where we can make out 2 aged men sitting at a table, with a weak, flickering lightbulb between them.
- next frame is a close up of one of the guy's dry lips as he says: "I saw a radcrab yesterday"
- cut to the other guy's concentrated eyes: "Nasty creatures, I avoid them whenever I can"
- then we're shown both guys looking at the viewer and saying at the same time: "a hero shall rise !"
- "Oblivion with Gunz, coming summer 2007 on teh Xbox360, winter 2009 on the PC"

If they aren't going to launch something at midnight then they shouldn't have a countdown and then change the image to "PLEASE STAND BY" at 11:30 and let it sit there for 4 hours. It is completely unprofessional. When i see "please stand by" i take that as a cue to actually stick around for about a half an hour, not 4 hours. It in unacceptable.

OK, considering how many people were whining about how the teaser images were 'not fallout-y enough', i'd have thought they'd be happy to see a standby image which (at least in my mind) is automatically associated with the previous Fallout titles.

The developers have to be awake to put out the trailer I think.

Unprofessional? did they sign some sort of a contract to post the trailer exactly at midnight for a certain timezone?
They have no obligations to anyone. Plus, this lets them gauge the strength of the fan base prior to actually marketing the game.
Be glad they are not like id Software, who'd say "the trailer comes out... when it's done"
