It deflates as soon as the teaser is posted.
That's why they doubtless had PR folks going over the teaser hundreds of times, making changes, pointing out things that need to be tweaked, etc., etc.
If everything goes as planned, the teaser then creates a "slow-boiling" version of the same hype, which should last until release - at which point they want it to bubble over and scald the metaphorical stove.

I don't see a mass exodus. I see Fallout fans spamming the forums here till they are banned just to make alts to spam the forums till they are banned... Wash, Rinse, Repeat until the forums are closed down and deleted. Fallout peeps did it once before and I do not doubt that they will do so again.
